A dad of seven who left Afghanistan for a superior life in Durham, N.C., was killed while filling in as a Uber driver, his family told Channel WRAL.

On Dec. 30, Ainzargul Totakhil was found dead inside his vehicle from a discharge wound, his cousin Yousaf Mangal told the station.

“He was simply going about his everyday responsibilities to bring in cash and feed his family,” said Mangal.

A representative for Uber put out an announcement to the news station.

“We are significantly disheartened by the silly demonstration of savagery that took Mr. Totakhil’s life, and our contemplations are with his family,” the rideshare organization expressed.

“We are contacting offer help and we have been in contact with policing their examination.”

Totakhil and Mangal put their lives in extreme danger to act as interpreters for U.S. troops in Afghanistan and were given unique visas to live in the US around a long time back, Mangal said.

They figured they would be more secure, and Totakhil’s significant other and kids were getting ready to move to Durham.

His cousin said, Totakhil turned into a U.S, as a matter of fact. resident toward the beginning of December.

“We didn’t anticipate that he should be killed in light of the fact that America is more protected than Afghanistan,” Mangal said.

Presently, Totakhil’s family is planning for his burial service. They made a GoFundMe record to help with memorial service costs.

“Ainzargul Totakhil [was] a dedicated family man, cherished by his local area, loved ones,” the site states.

Durham Police let the station know that no captures have been made. Individuals’ call to the division was not returned.
