Phyllis Grace Ardese Mozilo, the beloved wife of Angelo Mozilo, was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on February 7, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, Phyllis met Angelo Mozilo during their teenage years, and they embarked on a lifelong journey together. They exchanged vows in 1961 and began building a life that took them from the Northeast to the South and eventually settled them in Glendale, California, in 1969, where they raised their five children.

Phyllis was a pillar of support for her husband, a dedicated mother to their children, and a loving friend to many. Her warm and compassionate nature endeared her to everyone she encountered. She passed on her love for travel, good food, and appreciating the simple joys of life to her children and grandchildren. Phyllis had a talent for cooking, baking, and painting, and she generously shared her creations with friends and strangers alike. She had a voracious appetite for reading and was known for her remarkable sense of humor, her ability to empathize, and her can-do attitude, which she readily shared with those seeking guidance and wisdom.

Phyllis had a passion for collecting, gathering treasures from around the world, but her true joy came from collecting people and forming meaningful connections. She had an innate ability to understand others’ needs and desires, and she delighted in showering them with thoughtful gifts.

With an adventurous spirit, Phyllis traversed the globe, often bringing her family and friends along for the ride. Her wanderlust was infectious, though few could keep up with her zest for exploration.

Phyllis found great fulfillment in tutoring youths in the Santa Barbara area. Her students adored her for her sparkle-filled stickers, rewarding their accomplishments with encouragement and praise. She cared deeply about various causes, particularly those related to medical care for children and improving access to education for the underserved. Through her family foundation, Phyllis dedicated her time and resources to making a difference in these areas.

Above all, Phyllis loved her family and friends unconditionally. Her love knew no bounds, and her presence brought immense joy to those around her. The void left by her passing is immeasurable, and the pain of her loss is indescribable.

Phyllis Mozilo is survived by her beloved husband, Angelo Mozilo, their five children: Elizabeth Mozilo, Mark Mozilo, Christy Mozilo Larsen, David Mozilo, and Eric Mozilo, as well as her eleven cherished grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Grace Ardese, and her brother, Tommy Ardese.

In honor of Phyllis’s memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Girls Inc. or Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, causes that were close to her heart.
