To look after Anna and her elder brother Adam, her mother Rosalind gave up her job.

Anna went to Beverley High School and was a part of the school plays. The actress attended Liverpool University to study history after she graduated from high school.

After finishing her studies at Liverpool, she went on to enter the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

Interestingly, the actress also added the name Maxwell, which is her grandmother’s name, to her surname to set herself from another Equity member with the same name.
