Bajrang Punia given hero’s welcome, Gaurav says wrestler ‘will win Gold in Paris’

New Delhi, Sep 20 (IANS) Big showdown bronze medallist Bajrang Punia was given a stirring invite on his landing in the Indira Gandhi Global Air terminal here on Tuesday.
Powerlifter Gaurav Sharma congratulated the Republic and Asian Games gold medallist and Olympic bronze champ.
“Bajrang has done right by India once more and he will keep on doing as such. Notwithstanding getting harmed, he won a bronze decoration for the country. I’m certain he will win gold in the Olympics (Paris 2024) also. We have come to invite our public legend, of whom each and every Indian is pleased,” Gaurav said.
Bajrang guaranteed the bronze decoration in the men’s 65kg on the last day of the World Wrestling Titles 2022, on September 18. The Haryana grappler – – who was grappling with a wrap on his head because of the injury he supported during his pre-quarter-last – – created a lively fightback against Puerto Rico’s Sebastian Rivera, subsequent to being 6-0 down from the get-go in the session.

The 28-year-old in the end cut the lead and was following 8-9 heading into the last moment of the subsequent period. The Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist then pulled off a two-direct takedown in the last 20 seconds toward reverse the situation and win the session 10-9.
It was Bajrang’s fourth decoration at the big showdowns (silver in 2018, bronze awards in 2013 and 2019).
