Jenkins grew up in Union City, California. Her father is from El Salvador. Her mother brought her up after she was born, as her father had to leave the country due to his student visa status.
She went to the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
She further pursued her education by going to the University of Chicago Law School, where she got her Juris Doctor.
She started her career by working in corporate law. While working in corporate law, she looked after clients, which included domestic automakers and foreign car parts manufacturers, including Honda and Takata.
Jenkins’s firm is Bowman and Brooke, and due to its outstanding performance, it was named Law360’s 2018 Automotive Groups of the Year. She then began working in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office from 2014 to 2021, leading the hate crimes prosecutor.
Brooke left the job in 2021 to support the recall campaign against San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin. She was appointed to serve in the interim until an election is held on November 8, 2022, by District Attorney Mayor London Breed.
She started working as a District Attorney by being sworn into office on July 8. During her work period, she brought policies that allowed her attorneys to seek gang enhancements, allowing the conditional prosecution of minors as adults.
Similarly, policies that make drug dealers ineligible for community courts. She is running for election in November 2022.

She got pregnant with her first child with her husband in 2013. The couple found that it was a little boy, and they name their baby boy Justice.
After a year of being born, their son passed away tragically. The passing away of her son led her to search for her life’s purpose, and she decided to become a prosecutor.
