The actress was born Caitlin Jean Stasey on the first day of May 1990 in the city of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. For high school, she studied at Star of the Sea College. However, she left regular school at age 15, due to the demands of her acting career. She eventually completed high school through a distance learning program.
In 2000, 10-year-old Caitlin Stasey joined a performing arts group known as the Australian Girls Choir (AGC) and as a member she had the opportunity to perform at several venues across the world. She also worked on television commercials as a child. She had her first major role in the children’s series The Sleepover Club (2003-06) with star Francesca ‘Frankie’ Thomas. Her next major role was on the soap opera Neighbors (2005-09), starring series regular Rachel Kinski.
For her first major big-screen role, Stasey landed the lead role of Ellie Linton in the action-adventure film Tomorrow When the War Began (2010). Since then, she has recorded other notable films in different genres, including Proof (2013), All the Cheerleaders Die (2013), Thirst for Love (2014) and I, Frankenstein (2014).
She played the lead role of Claire on the 4 season Australian comedy series Please Love Me (2013-2016). The talented actress portrayed a main character, Lady Kenna, in the American drama series Reign (2013-15) and she also featured in the short-lived crime drama series APB. Casey Stacey’s parents are Sally and David Stasey. She has one brother, a younger sister named Victoria. As a child, the family crisscrossed the Middle East due to the nature of his father’s work. Growing up, Stasey’s family life was completely devoid of any form of religious activity, with her father being an atheist and her mother an agnostic. However, she attended Catholic schools as a child and found a form of religiosity there. However, she became disillusioned with the Christian faith during her teenage years.

Casey Stasey has a long-term relationship with American actor Lucas Neff, known for his work on the sitcom Raising Hope. The duo reunited in 2014 and have remained inseparable ever since. The couple reportedly tied the knot in January 2016 in a private ceremony. However, no definitive confirmation has been given to this effect. In October 2016, the actress shared photos from what appeared to be her wedding ceremony, but was reluctant to confirm the wedding rumors.
