As Eamonn Andrews’ student, Davies began chipping away at Universe of Game (previously known as Wide Universe of Sports) in 1965. ITV paid Andrews £40,000 to have the program (comparable to £825,250 at 2022 costs), and Davies assumed control over the post of host in 1968 after Andrews withdrew the program.
