DJ Casper was an American DJ, hype man, and songwriter. Born and bred in Chicago, he was nicknamed as “Casper” because he was frequently dressed in pure white on stage.

Perry’s first hit single, “Casper Slide Pt. 1” – commonly known as “Cha Cha Slide” – was written in 1998 for his nephew, who worked as a personal trainer at a Bally Total Fitness.

Casper wrote a second song in 2000, titled “Casper Slide Pt. 2,” after the song became popular as an aerobic activity in health clubs and PE in schools, and it was picked up by Elroy Smith at Chicago’s radio station, WGCI-FM.
Casper had already conquered previous health challenges, including a brain aneurysm at the age of 22 and eye surgery for detached retinas.
