Geneviève Suzanne Marie-Thérèse Mulmann, professionally known as Geneviève de Fontenay, was a French entrepreneur who led the Miss France Committee from 1981 to 2007.
Fontenay began her career with the Miss France Committee in 1954, when she was employed as its general secretary during Guy Rinaldo’s chairmanship.
When Sylvie Tellier said in 2019 that she “would not oppose” transgender women competing in Miss France, Fontenay called it “against nature” and “dishonorable,” and said it would “dirty the title of Miss France.”
Fontenay’s son revealed on August 2, 2023, that she died in her sleep of cardiac arrest on the night of August 1st, in her Saint-Cloud residence.
