Star actor on ‘Sopranos’ and ‘Law and Order’, Bruce MacVittie, passed away in a hospital in New York. His death was announced by his wife, Carol Ochs, on May 7, 2022.

The exact nature of Bruce’s illness and cause of his death have not been disclosed.

Born on Oct. 14, 1956 in Providence, Rhode Island, MacVittie started his acting career while in high school.

After graduating from Boston University, he moved to New York City in 1979, and later joined the Ensemble Studio Theatre as a member.

Bruce starred as Danny Bailey in Edward Allen Baker’s production of What’s So Beautiful About A Sunset Over Prairie Avenue?

In 1983, MacVittie became an protégé to James Hayden in David Mamet’s American Buffalo production, starring Al Pacino and J.J. Johnston.

Bruce went ahead to appear in London’s West End with Al Pacino and J.J Johnson.

Bruce has on a number of times featured on countless TV series.

For the Law & Order franchise, he played in all 11 characters.

His popular roles include Judge Harvey Frye and Arnie Cox in Law & Order: Criminal Intent; playing Kurt Mulhall and Mr Tandy on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; and on the original Law & Order series MacVittie played characters like Frank Andreas, Bill Parker and Arvin Baker.
