iStockphoto has been around since the internet has been a popular thing. The website was founded in the year 2000, and it remains one of the most popular sites for stock photo images to this day. Thousands of people upload pictures to this site, claiming copyright and getting paid when someone buys their work. And others use the site to buy images that they need and can’t get anywhere else.

These photos can be of almost anything. You can purchase a beautiful picture of the beach to put on the front page of your blog, or you can purchase a picture of the clouds and have it printed for your wall. Whatever happens to the image after you buy it is up to you because once the money changes hands, you know have rights to that image and no one can tell you to take it down. The only rule of this is that you cannot claim the images as your own, they were taken by a photographer. You might own the photos, but you are not allowed to claim the work of others as your own online.
