An assistant director of corrections in Alabama, Vicki White, has gone missing with Casey Cole White, an inmate suspected of capital murder.

Reportedly, the authorities in Alabama are looking for a prison officer and a murder suspect who were last spotted leaving the jail on Friday for a three-minute drive to the county courtroom for an appointment that didn’t exist, according to officials.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s office issued a warning stating that one employee, Assistant Director of Corrections Vicki White, and inmate Casey Colen White (no related) are missing.

The car in which the two departed the correctional institution was discovered in a local shopping center’s parking lot. Investigators are searching for footage that might provide further information about the situation.

Vicki White is assistant director of corrections at the Lauderdale County Jail. As per reports, she departed the prison at 9:41 a.m. to accompany convict Casey White to the county courtroom in Florence, Ala., located outside Muscle Shoals, for a mental health assessment.

Meanwhile, the sheriff, Rick Singleton, stated in a press conference on Friday that no such appointment had been made. “She was alone, which was against protocol, he explained.

According to the Sheriff, Mr. White, who was charged with two counts of capital murder for a murder-for-hire homicide in 2020, should have been accompanied by two deputies. This included the walk to the courthouse, which was just three minutes away.

Officer white’s police auto-mobile, which was used to transport Mr. White, was noticed in a local shopping mall at 11 a.m. on Friday, but it was unclear who spotted it or where it was spotted.

Singleton said that someone on a lunch break observed her auto-mobile, a 2013 Ford Taurus police car, at the shopping center parking lot at about 11 a.m. Friday.
