Is Bill McColl A Hall of Famer?

Bill McColl is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1973 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to college football during his time at Stanford University.

McColl’s achievements as a two-time consensus All-American and his notable performances on the field earned him a well-deserved place among the football greats enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.

During his time at Stanford, McColl earned accolades as a two-time All-America End, receiving unanimous recognition in 1951 and consensus honours in 1950. Serving as captain on the 1951 Pacific Coast Conference Championship team, he played a pivotal role in Stanford’s success, helping the Cardinal achieve a 9-2 record, a final No. 7 AP ranking, and a prestigious Rose Bowl berth against Illinois.

McColl’s statistics and accomplishments on the field were nothing short of impressive. In the 1951 season, he finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting, showcasing his exceptional skills with 46 receptions for 669 yards and seven touchdowns. His three seasons at Stanford resulted in three winning seasons, contributing to an overall record of 21-8-3.
