Kashmir to get its first electric train on Gandhi Jayanti

Srinagar, Sep 14 (IANS) On October 2, electric train will begin continuing on the 137 kms in length Banihal-Baramulla hallway of Jammu and Kashmir rail connect.
Indian Railway authorities said that work on the undertaking was happening since August 2019.
The required head boss electrical designer (PCEE) investigation of the electric rail connection will happen on September 26 and on Gandhi Jayanti, the task will be initiated, the rail route authorities said.
“Preliminaries on Baramulla-Budgam part of the 137-Kms in length electric train connect have previously been finished while the preliminary on the excess Budgam-Banihal piece will be done on September 20”, sources said, adding that the undertaking cost of the electric train connect from Banihal to Baramulla is Rs 324 crore.
The zap of the Banihal-Baramulla rail connection will lessen air contamination and is supposed to cut down the functional expense by 60%.
