Madden sales by year is estimated to be $600 million on average. EA Sports has raked in more than $4 billion from sales of the video game series.
Madden 23 sales topped the US software chart in August, while PS5 led monthly hardware sales a month after its release in September 2022. It also topped the NPD sales chart for September 2022.
Although the developers are adding new simulation features like Sliders to increase the overall value, it appears that the overall user experience has not been as positive as one expected.
Madden 23 has been facing some backlash. A user named RobbieZoo took to Twitter to express that 23 has several glitches and the quarterback does not get injured at all.
On the other hand, the Madden Modding Community has been introducing Mods to improve the gameplay.
The developers intend on taking the franchise to the next level. MLFootball tweeted that EA Sports are taking the upcoming Madden NFL 24 as the ‘make or break’ game for the franchise.
How Many Copies Of Madden 23 Sold?
Madden 23 sales numbers were $50,000 in the first month of the release on Steam. The total income generated from these sales was around $2 million.
A total of 156k units of Madden 23 have been sold from which it has obtained $7 million in revenue. After it came out on August 16, 2022, it became the best seller that month. Last year, Madden NFL became the chart-topper 23 times in a row.
It has been ten months since Madden 2023 has been on the market. Last month saw 10,000 purchases of the game. This brought in an income of $200,000.
In April 2023, Madden NFL 23 was ranked at position 9 on the list of top 10 selling video games, both in retail and digital.
The previous year, Madden NFL 23 was listed as the third top-selling video game in the United States of America, with an average user score of 1.16 out of 10 on Metacritic in December of that year.
Next month, in January, it rose to number third among the top-selling premium games in U.S. Sales according to NPD Group.
The publisher of the Madden NFL series, Electronic Arts has listed Madden NFL 23 in the 52nd position amongst all of the games it publishes based on financial performance.
Thanks to a good response to the Madden NFL 22 from the consumers, fans were as excited to buy the latest edition of the game as well. Many users gave negative reviews to Madden NFL 23, but when it comes to rating, it is still better than its predecessor.
It appears that it is a ripple effect because since it was introduced in the market on 1 June 1988, the sale has only been rising.
Being more than a 30-year-old franchise, Madden has managed to amass a loyal fanbase, which ultimately skyrockets its sales. The gaming franchise has been continuously working to provide a realistic gaming experience.

Madden 22 sales numbers is $11,125,860 from which it obtained a gross revenue of $8.3 million.
214k units were sold at the average price of $59.99 based on data provided by VG Insights. The sales suggest that it was the top US seller in its respective category in August according to NPD data.
Madden 22 stands as the third top-selling game and first sports game in terms of sales numbers in the U.S. in 2021. The sales figures of the latest edition of Madden seem to have dropped largely compared to 22. It is 156% lower than 22.
Madden 22, released on August 17, 2021, registered itself as the 4th best-selling game that year. For 22 straight years, the video game series debuted in the coveted No. 1 position in 2021.

Madden 21 sales grew by 20 percent in its debut week as compared to its predecessor. From its release month to the 3rd of October, 21 stayed as the 3rd chartbuster game in America.
This feat indicates that Madden 21 sales numbers were outstanding. 156k units of Madden 21 were sold and it earned a $7m gross revenue.
Madden 20 sales numbers were higher for digital copies than physical ones during the initial week. This had never happened before.
Madden 17 sales numbers were 1,057,035 units for the first week at retail. Madden 17 sales were maximum on PlayStation 4 with 602,753 units sold.

EA Sports, the company that publishes Madden NFL every year, generated $7,426 million of net revenue in the year 2023. It is higher than the previous year’s record, $6,991 million in 2022 and $5,629 million in 2021.
It should be noted that EA launches other game franchises like FIFA and The Sims as well. The EA earns a great amount of money through Madden and the players are given their share through NFLPA.
