Maria Souza is a big-wave surfer and cloth designer. 

She is well-known as an ex-wife of Americanbig -wave surfer, Laird Hamilton, who is co-inventor of tow-in-surfing and occasional action-sports model.

Laird Hamilton modeling career

When Laird was 16 years, he left his high school to pursue a career in modeling. 

Luckily, when he was 17, he was clicked by a photographer from the Italian Men’s Box MagazineL’Vomo Vogue. 

This unknowingly done photoshoot helped him to grabbed the Modeling Contract, and in 1983, he got photoshoot with actress Brooke Shields. 

Not only modeling, but he was also featured in the movie, such as ‘North Shore‘ and ‘Moving Target.’  He was last seen in ‘The Descendants‘ and ‘Point Break.’

She is the first woman to low-in to the powerful waves of Peahi, Maui, which is also known as Jaws. She is trained with almost all types of surfing. 

She used to train people in tow-in- surfing, foil surfing, windsurfing, kite-boarding, Hawaiian Canoe, tandem surfing, and stand-up paddle. 

Now she is specialized and can provide training on Stand-up paddling, SUP Downwind, SUP surfing, SUP yoga, SUP racing, and big wave surfing.

Along with surfing, yoga, and paddling, she is also a physical and emotional therapist and personal trainer for athletes. 

Additionally, she also joined college for a marketing lesson and a designer of a line of ocean wear.

Although Maria has a successful career, she remained unsuccessful in handling her married life. She was married to Laird Hamilton in 1992.

Before entering the modeling world, Maria‘s husband, Laird, was already an established surfer. 

In 1990, Laird made headlines as the first surfer to compete in a 360-degree loop while strapped to his board. 

Her husband is regarded as a great surfer of all time because of his regular surfing at 35 feet tall and with a speed of 30 miles an hour. 

But he takes surfing as an artistic work instead of having a professional career on it. 

He was reluctant to compete in surfing contests as he was fed up watching politics going on in the surfing contest and the random luck of waves in organized Championship. 

He is even recognized as the inventor of the foil board, which helped the surfer to perform better in the water.
