Eric Chavez is a former professional baseball third baseman. He played in MLB for the Oakland Athletics (1998–2010), New York Yankees (2011–2012), and Arizona Diamondbacks (2013–2014).

During his playing career, Chavez won six Gold Glove Awards and a Silver Slugger Award. Post playing career, he served as a special assistant to Yankees executives Brian Cashman and Billy Eppler during the 2015 season.

In addition to that, he was hired as a special aide of Eppler, after he became the general manager of the Los Angeles Angels after the 2015 season.

Also, he was as seen a possible replacement for Keith Johnson who was promoted to the coaching staff of the Angels.  Following the 2021 season, he was hired as an assistant hitting coach by the Yankees.

Eric Chavez has been married twice in his life.

He was first married to Amber Tarpy but clearly, the relationship did not work out resulting to divorce in 2001. There is no further information about Amber and their married life on the internet. 

Two years after his split with his first wife, he got hitched to Alexandra Chavez in 2003. It is said that the couple met for the first time at a baseball game when Alexandra was eighteen years old. The couple shares three children: Diego, Dolce, and Cruz.

Eric Chavez is a father of three children: Diego, Dolce, and Cruz. 

He had them with his second wife Alexandra Chavez. Talking about his family, he was born to a Mexican father, Cesar, and mother Ruby Chavez. His father was a custodian at an elementary school while his mother worked at Rancho Bernardo High School.
