INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) is one of three lawmakers pushing to curb veteran homelessness across the country.
This week, Young, Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) introduced the “Veteran Housing Opportunities and Unemployment Support Extension Act.” The bill would allow veterans with other-than-honorable (OTH) discharges to participate in Department of Housing and Urban Development’s VA Supportive Housing Program.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A team of cyclists led by a Hoosier surgeon are cycling across the country to help those in need. Dr. Mike Berend, a surgeon at the Midwest Center for Joint Replacement, leads the team in the Race Across America, a 3,100-mile ride from San Diego, California to Annapolis, Maryland.

Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, a man walked into the Global Gifts store and pulled a gun. Dianna Norris, the store’s manager, says the man looked around the store for a few minutes, then pulled his gun and forced employees and customers behind the counter while he emptied the register.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN –A pair of IMPD police officers have taken it upon themselves to “adopt” a 95-year-old man. North District patrolman Chad Montgomery said he first met Leon Rhodes while following up on a hit and run accident on the 95-year-old’s block.
After talking, Montgomery learned Rhodes, was living by himself, in poor health, and had no family to check upon him. “After that it was just well ill come by and check in on you,” Montgomery said.
