Charles Wright, a 52 years old Inglewood teacher, was arrested in the link 2005 murder case of Pertina Epps. She was found dead in the 2700 block of 141st Place on April 26, 2005.

Authorities announced Saturday that an Inglewood teacher Charles Wright was detained on suspicion of murdering a 21-year-old woman in 2005. 

The DNA and fingerprint evidence reportedly linked him to the crime.

Pertina Epps was discovered dead in a carport in Gardena on April 26, 2005, on a Tuesday afternoon.

The medical examiner concluded that Pertina had been strangled.

Police have accused a California teacher Charles Wright of a 2005 homicide after DNA and fingerprint evidence linked him to the crime site.

According to the LA County Sheriff’s Office, Charles Wright, 56, of Hawthorne, was arrested on a murder charge on Thursday. 

Charles was detained but freed on bail on Thursday. The detectives believe Wright and Epps knew each other.

Wright denied any participation in the crime on Sunday.

Wright claimed that his fingerprints were found on Epps’ purse because she was selling handbags, tennis shoes, and apparel from the trunk of her car at the time of the murder.

He did not respond to the DNA claim but did say he had resigned from the Inglewood Unified School District to defend the lawsuit.

Charles Wright Inglewood Teacher Photos On Facebook

Charles Wright Inglewood teacher photos have been shared on Facebook on speculation that he might be the killer.

However, the police have not publically distributed the picture of the alleged killer. 

Wright has been fighting the allegation since 2005 and even stopped working for Inglewood Unified School. 

Furthermore, Charles clarified the fingerprint and DNA test, stating, “I didn’t do it.”

He added emphatically. “The point is, anybody who knows me knows that I used to sell bags and stuff out of the trunk of my vehicle… That’s the only way it’s going to happen.”

Inglewood Unified School District Superintendent Erika F. Torres wrote a letter to staff and parents on Saturday. 

She informed them that the district had heard of the allegations the day before, and Wright would no longer be teaching at any district’s schools.

Pertina Epps Wikipedia And Family Details

Pertina Epps was a 21-year-old student of Inglewood Unified School.

According to various sources, she used to sell purses, bags, and other clothes for some extra money. 

Epps was strangled and murdered in 2005, and the case was unsolved for almost 16 years. 

Sheriff authorities said Wright, whose bail was set at $1 million, was released later Thursday after posting bond.

The date has been scheduled for his arraignment on June 28.

It’s unknown whether he has retained a counsel to speak for him.

During an interview on Sunday, Wright denied murdering Epps.
