Marty and Rick use state of the art equipment and experts to search the three main area on Oak Island where treasure is said to be hidden. During the episodes experts try to explain possible theories about the treasure. The show began airing in January 2014.
Rick was interested in the treasure of Oak Island at the age of 11. He read an article in the Readers Digest, the article was about the legend of treasure being buried there, wood timbers found and the booby traps. He became fascinated by the thought of treasure being buried on the island. Sometimes after
their father showed them an article in The Wall Street Journal about Oak Island. Both boys remained interested in the treasure and the legends surrounding it. Rick, especially became determined to someday investigate.

Rick and Marty own a tour company which leads guests through Oak Island’s mysteries, items found, and tours of the entire island including the “Money Pit” and “Borehole 10-X”. In December 2017, in an episode of Oak Island it was revealed that Rick had been bitten by a Lyme disease-carrying tick. Marty convinced him to seek treatment after he spotted one of the typical Lyme disease symptoms on Rick’s back, a “bulls-eye” rash. Since the disease was noted at early stages there were no complications. Lyme disease is extremely dangerous and if not caught in time it is usually untreatable; symptoms for the disease vary from fatigue to inflammation of the brain and nervous system.
