Born to a Shi’a Muslim family in Srifa, South Governorate, Lebanon, she is the child of Nadia and Hussein Fakih, having grown up among four siblings, sisters Rana and Rouba and brothers Rabih and Rami.

While growing up in Mount Lebanon, she attended a Catholic school called St. Rita’s before moving to New York with her family in 1993 to escape the Lebanese Civil War.
