Special vehicle to transport rescued vulture from Kanniyakumari to Jodhpur

Chennai, Sep 16 (IANS) A vulture, safeguarded from the road in Tamil Nadu’s Kanniyakumari a couple of months prior, will be moved to the Machia Organic Park in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur in a uniquely planned vehicle.

The vehicle will have an open pressed wood confine for the Cinereous vulture (Aegipius monachus), which was restored at the Udayagiri Organic Park in Kanniyakumari after its salvage. The enclosure will likewise have thick cushioning to forestall shock to the vulture during the 2,600-km-long excursion, which will begin on September 25 and require four days.

A specialist from Untamed life Organization of India, a veterinarian from Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Save in Tirunelveli, and a Woodland Division staff part who has been taking care of the vulture will go with it on the excursion.

The specialist has led a recce of the spots where the vehicle would end during the excursion and the driver is coordinated by the Udayagiri Park authorities that the vehicle shouldn’t go past a speed of 50 km. The movement will be done solely after the dim and will cover a distance of 600 km each day.

The vehicle will leave on September 25 and will arrive at Hosur by early morning and will end there. The excursion will be continued the following day and will finish up at a vulture recovery focus in Pune and will stay there till the, prior night arriving at Vadodara the following morning.

The vulture will be moved to the Machia Natural Park where it will adapt for a month and afterward will be let off at Keru town. This town is noted for unloading steers remains and an enormous number of vultures assemble day to day.

A GPS transmitter is as of now introduced on the body of the vulture and will guarantee its 24X7 observing.
