Tig Notaro, also known as Mathilde O’Callaghan Notaro, was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and went on to grow up in Texas. She dropped out of high school and moved to Denver, Colorado. Once there, she began working as a band manager, eventually launching her own company called, Tignation Promotions. She then relocated to Los Angeles to continue working as a band manager, but ended up shifting her focus to stand-up comedy. She has gone on to appear on “Comedy Central Presents”, “The Sarah Silverman Program”, “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”, and “This American Life”. She became a household name after performing a now legendary stand-up set at Largo in August of 2012, when she addressed a series of recent personal tragedies, including her battle with breast cancer.
