Wilson Phillips is an American pop group formed in Los Angeles in 1989. The group consists of Carnie Wilson and Wendy Wilson, the daughters of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, and Chynna Phillips, the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas & the Papas.
What happened to the group Wilson Phillips?
Shortly after, the group decided to break up, departing just after their second album. Chynna Phillips announced plans for a solo career, however, the group performed the US national anthem in a baseball stadium. Less than a year after the release of their second album, the group had gone their separate ways.
Though all three members have their own things going on, the group has come together regularly over the last 20 years. In 2004, they released California, an album of covers; Christmas in Harmony followed in 2010.
Ex-Idol panelist Simon Cowell once even said that Phillips was the only Idol winner he’d liked and followed since he stopped judging the show in 2010. However, for three years, Phillips wasn’t able to release any new music, due to his contentious lawsuit against Idol’s parent company, 19 Entertainment.
