“He was extremely sweet at the Tonys, asking which side I wanted him on for photographs. I look at those photos and think, ‘That’s my dream.'”
“To discover this companion that wants to be by my side and is ecstatic about me. Arriving at this point in my profession and having this connection means so much to me.”
She and Perlow, 37, married in July of last year after meeting in college and reuniting for the 2015 Deaf West Theatre staging of Spring Awakening.

It was when she played Annie in a backyard production of the musical, much to the joy of neighbors and friends in the audience.
“Everyone was looking at me, but not because I was in a wheelchair. “It was because I was a celebrity,” Stroker explained at the time, adding that she has been “hooked ever since.”
“In a lot of ways, I talk about the ‘hits,’ the nice things that have happened in my life, and the highlights,” she explained. “But it’s also incredibly essential to me, to be honest about the stigma that society has placed on handicapped people.”
