Who is Andy Cohen?

Andy Cohen is a famous American reality TV host, producer and author, most notably for his show. Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Bravo TV. He has worked as a producer as well as for a host of popular shows such as Love Connection, Andy Cohen Live on SiriusXM, and Top Chef, among others. Interestingly, Andy is the first TV show host to publicly come out as gay.

Andrew Joseph Cohen was born on the 2nd day of June 1968 at St Louis City, Missouri in the United States. He was born to middle-class American parents, Lou Cohen, and his wife, Evelyn Cohen. He grew up in St Louis with his sister Emily Rosenfeld. Andy completed his basic education at Clayton High School in 1986. He also went to Boston University where he earned a journalism degree a few years later. While there, Andy wrote for the Boston University newspaper The Daily Free Press. He also interned at CBS News with Julie Chen.

Professional career

After Andy finished his internship at CBS News, he quickly got a job on the network. He spent the first ten years of his career with the network and worked on different shows. He served as a senior producer on CBS shows such as CBS This Morning, 48 Hours, and The First Show before leaving the network. Andy was hired by Trio TV Network in 2000 and after a few years rose to Vice President of Programs after the network was acquired by Bravo in 2004.

Andy has appeared on several shows including Morning Joe, Live with Kelly, The View, Saturday Night Live, and The Return. He began hosting his own show called Watch What Happens Live in 2009 and the show was later renamed Watch What Happens Starring Andy Cohen. Andy has also hosted a radio show Radio Andy on SiriusXM as well as Love Connection on Fox. It has also hosted Hollywood Game Night, Diehard Kimmy Schmidt, Riverdale, and RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Apart from being a show host, Andy Cohen has also made his mark as a prolific writer and has penned a few books that became New York Times bestsellers. Some of which include an autobiographical book titled The Most Talkative in 2012. He followed this with The Diary of Andy Cohen in 2014 and More Adventures in Andy Cohen’s Diaries in 2016.

As we mentioned earlier, Andy Cohen is the first TV show host who publicly came out as gay. The media star came out as gay while still at Boston University. He said it was the hardest decision he had made in his life. He has since aligned with the LGBT community and has had few relationships to date. He was previously dating a man named Clifton Dassuncao. Clifton was a PhD student at Harvard University and the couple began their relationship in 2015. After three years, they separated in April 2018.

While the media star is currently single, he once revealed on the Jimmy Fallon show how great it would be to be a couple with Anderson Cooper. Cooper is an American journalist best known for being the host of the CNN Anderson Cooper 360 show . Much like Andy, Anderson publicly came out as gay in 2012. The couple are co-stars in the Watch What Happens and they made a great team. Although they are not yet a couple; the pair share great on-screen chemistry. Interestingly, Andy announced that he is currently expecting a child via surrogate in 2019.
