Gerald Peter “Jerry” Remy was born on November 8, 1952, in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Jerry was an American Major League Baseball second baseman and broadcaster for the California Angels (1975–77) and the Boston Red Sox (1978–84). Jerry was drafted by the California Angels in 1971 and made his major league debut in 1975.

Jerry had surgery to remove a “very small, low-grade cancerous area” from his lung caused by smoking cigarettes, In November 2008. Jerry suffered from an infection and pneumonia During his recovery from the surgery. This was suspected to be a result of fatigue and depression. So Jerry took an indefinite leave of absence from his broadcast duties for NESN, starting April 30, 2009.
Jerry and his wife Phoebe had three children, Jared, Jordan, and Jenna.
Jerry died on October 30, 2021, from lung cancer at the age of 68.
