Who was David Jacobs? American Television Writer and Creator of ‘Knots Landing’ Dead at 84

David Jacobs was an American television writer who was famously known for writing and producing some of the longest-running American soap operas Dallas and Knots Landing. Dallas aired for a total of 14 seasons which had 357 episodes while Knots Landing aired for 344 episodes in total.

Some of his film credits also include Kingston: Confidential, Family, Secrets of Midland Heights, Behind the Screen, Chicago Story, Paradise, Homefront, Bodies of Evidence, Four Corners, Bodies of Evidence, and more.

Jacobs was announced dead by his son, Aaron. According to him, he died from complications from a series of infections at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California at age 84. His death occurred on  Sunday, August 20, 2023. He had been battling Alzheimer’s disease in his later years.

Before entering the movie industry, he was a freelance writer on notification articles and worked closely with architect and inventor Buckminster Fuller. He also wrote a children’s book and also co-wrote the non-fiction book Police, a Precinct at Work.
