Scottish boxing symbol Ken Buchanan has died at 77 years old. The news comes a year after his child Mark reported that Buchanan had been determined to have dementia. He died calmly in his rest.

The previous title holder’s passing was affirmed by The Ken Buchanan Establishment on Saturday evening. “It is with extraordinary trouble that we need to illuminate you Ken died calmly in his rest earlier today,” it expressed.

In 1970, he came out on top for the WBA lightweight championship by prevailing upon Ismael Laguna in a well known battle in Puerto Rico. The fighter won the WBC crown the next year by overcoming Ruben Navarro.
