According to Total Slovenia News, Marko was not wearing a helmet while in action for snowboarding.  It is found that along the way, the athlete lost his balance and, as a result, he hit a rock that was covered by snow. And, Grilc seriously injured either his head or his face.

The shooting crew who accompanied him tried to give resuscitation to him. But, sadly, when the responding medical team arrived at the scene, they only determine his death perhaps because of his breathing loss.
