Iman Asante Shumpert was born on June 26, 1990, in Berwyn, Illinois. Iman Shumpert is an American professional basketball player.
Iman is believed to have a Ghanaian root. His middle name, Asante, is a name that is very synonymous with the Ashantis in Ghana. Iman has three siblings, Kasani Shumpert, Ordis Jr. Shumpert, Ahrii Shumpert.
Iman Shumpert was selected by the New York Knicks with the 17th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. Iman is an NBA championship winner with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. Shumpert is the only NBA player to make it to the Dancing with the Stars finals and was voted champion for the 30th season.
Why did Iman Shumpert retire?
Before retiring, Iman signed a deal to return to Brooklyn on January 30, 2021, where he played one game for the Nets before being waived. Iman signed a 10-day contract on February 26 with the Nets.
Even though he hasn’t played in the NBA for some time, Shumpert hasn’t officially retired from basketball. for now, he has changed his focus to dancing.
